Meow, Fit Blog readers! It’s me, Bean, and I’m back! I hope all you Running Humans have enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to another season with Friends In Training. Me and my fellow fabulous furry friends will be cheering you on as we spend our days sleeping late or waking you up hours before those early morning alarms… just because we can! MEOW!
Speaking of fabulous furry friends, today we’re going to feature our very first (of hopefully very many!) FIT Pet Profile! That’s right, Running Humans, your adorable and feisty friends are going to have their say their say about how wonderful and adorable and supportive they are to your weird early-morning needs… provided you feed and adore us before you head out to hit the pavement. And when you come back as well. Because that’s how we roll.
Anyway, our first pet profilee is a very handsome canine who owns a human named Francesca. Let’s get to learn more about our new friend Samson in a fabulous little tune we’d like to call…
Getting To Know Samson!
My Name: Samson
My Nickname(s): Sammy, Stick Boy, Stop eating the kitty kibble!
What Am I?: Catahoula Leopard Hound
My Human’s Name: Francesca Filiberto
How Did I Come To Live With My Human?
My mommy wanted a running buddy, so she looked on pet finder! She came to look at a black lab, but was overtaken by my cuteness! She said even though I smelled like pee when she met me, she knew it was love at first sight.
The lady at the rescue group said I was left in the Miami Redlands on the side of the road in a cardboard box with my other brothers and sisters. Mommy doesn’t understand how anyone could have been so cruel to a sweet little thing like me.
Years Watching My Human Run: 1.5
Favorite Treat: marrow bones, peanut butter, vanilla ice cream cone from Dairy Queen
Favorite Toy/Activity: Any stick in the yard that I can carry, ripping apart palm fronds, ignoring my mom
Cute Story About Me:
When I was little, mommy took me to the vet and the vet lady had to draw some blood. I was so nervous I peed in the vet’s shoe! It was hilarious! That’ll teach her not to poke me again! Woof!
Running Tip or Advice For Humans:
Always lay out the clothes you’re going to wear for a race the night before. Mommy always gets so fussed not knowing how the weather will be during the race, so she takes all this junk with her to bag check, she’s a nut.
But she’s also very considerate. When she wakes up early in the morning to run, she gets dressed in the dark, so I don’t have to wake up when she turns the lights on. Unfortunately, dressing in the dark has resulted in her wearing her pants inside out at races. And on that particular day, she won in her race category and now thinks it is a good idea to always wear her pants inside out for a race-please tell her not to, she can be so embarrassing sometimes. I swear, I can’t take her anywhere, not even to the dog park! She talks to me in baby voices, and all the other dogs laugh at me, doesn’t she know I’m a big boy?!
Double knot your shoe laces! Mommy has fallen and tripped a lot, but she’s also clumsy by natures, bless her heart.
Anything Else I’d Like To Add?:
I have webbed paws, kinda like my mom’s webbed toes. I think that’s why we get along so well.
My one eye is half blue and half brown. Native Americans believe that dogs with different colored eyes can see heaven and earth.
My breed is the state dog of Louisiana!
Sometimes I fart and pretend is wasn’t me 😉
If you’d like a furry friend for your family, my mommy volunteers with 100+ Abandoned Dogs of the Everglades and No More Homeless Pets of Ft. Lauderdale! Saving a life is so rewarding, my mommy says I’m the best thing that happened to her, we’re best buds!
Meow, there it is! Thank you Samson for taking the time to fill out your profile for our burgeoning pet corner of the FIT blog. And if you would like to be featured (and why WOULDN’T you? You automatically become THAT MUCH COOLER!) you (or your human, if you’re feeling above such petty duties as typing) should fill out our Pet Profile Questionnaire, and you can submit your profile online! Isn’t that wonderful? Thanks again, FIT pets and their humans, and keep being awesome! MEOW!
