My name is Connie, I was born in Miami, Florida on June 17th, 1988. My family moved to Broward County shortly after Hurricane Andrew (1992), and we have been living in Plantation ever since.
In May of 2016 I got my Master's degree in Library and Information Science; hopefully I will be working in my field very soon. I have been running for about 5 years more or less. I have always been a fairly active person; I wasn't an athlete, but I wasn't a complete couch potato either.
I realized that running came naturally to me and I wanted to improve, so in 2012 I joined Gold Coast Runners. I met with them mostly on Wednesdays at Robbins Park in Davie. I learned a lot from the group and enjoyed their company, but due to a few life changing events I dropped out of the group.
Afterward, I have been mostly running on my own. I wanted to get serious about running; I found out about Friends in Training (FIT) when I was searching for local running groups online and from an article in the Sun-Sentinel. I joined FIT late 2013 and it was one of the best decisions I've made. Because of FIT I have participated in more races than when I was running on my own. My running has also improved and I've met some incredible people. This year I will be doing the Marine Corps Marathon on October 30th in Washington D.C.. This is my first full marathon, and I am absolutely excited about it. I have no idea what the future holds for me, but whatever happens I'll keep running.
Here are my personal records (PRs), so far:
Fastest 5K: 23:25
Fastest 10K: 51:37
Fastest Half: 1:50:2
