As a professional, he worked many years as a consultant, helping organizations to achieve operational excellence. As a sport lover he has been coaching kids in basketball and soccer, helping them to develop their skills and character. Many of them are today college athletes, including his daughter Marianne who ran for Florida State University. After he became a marathoner in 2007, he has been helping people achieve long distance run goals. He loves to help people achieve their full potential as long-distance runners. He is also an RRCA Certified Running Coach and has the USATF Level I Course.
Luis has been running for the past 16 years and has proudly completed all the 17 marathons he has participated in, including 5 World Marathon Majors! These include Boston (2), New York (2), Chicago (4), London, Berlin, Tampa Gasparilla, Jacksonville, Miami (2), A1A, Marathon of the Palm Beaches, Poconos, and he has qualified 3 times for Boston Marathon. Berlin Marathon by far being the most challenging because he walked the whole route with 3 fractured vertebras and coming back from knee and both Achilles surgeries.
